Palacio de Malacaņang 200 Years of a Ruling House attempts to situate Malacaņang Palace, in its place in Philippine social and political history and its architecture.

National Artist for Literature Nick Joaquin's narrative tells of the times of the grand house on the banks of the Pasig River and the lives of the Spanish and American governors, the Philippine presidents and their families.

Alfredo Roces conducted interviews with Ferdinand Marcos Jr.and Mang Piding, a longtime member of the Malacaņang Palace domestic staff and presents their perspectives. Illustrations and photographs, some of them visual gems, document the phases and changes of the ruling house, as well as those who have animated its halls during the last 200 years.
